Ryan Murphy is a veteran iGaming and sports betting media executive with more than a decade of experience leading high-performing editorial and content operations across the online gambling industry. He began his journalism career at age nine, writing about his little league baseball team, and went on to become a respected voice in sports media, including authoring a weekly column for Fox Sports.
Over the past 10 years, Murphy has held senior leadership roles at major gaming and affiliate brands including XLMedia, Churchill Downs, and Covers. At Churchill Downs, he led the launch and growth of TwinSpires Edge, serving as the publication’s first Editor-in-Chief of Sports and Casino Content. Under his leadership, the brand established itself as a recognized authority in online sports betting and casino coverage, driven by sharp editorial strategy, audience growth, and talent development.
Murphy later joined Covers as Managing Editor, where he oversaw editorial operations at scale, optimized publishing workflows, expanded content output, and helped drive record affiliate performance and clickout revenue across sportsbook and casino partners.
A graduate of McGill University, Murphy is also an accomplished creative writer. His critically acclaimed short stories and columns have appeared in 23 books and have been featured across more than 170 radio stations and 60 newspapers and magazines.
